Visitors will once again need to put on masks in some areas of Denali National Park and Preserve.
Officials declared on Thursday that masks will be necessary for anybody entering federal buildings or
boarding buses inside Denali National Park and Preserve due to high COVID-19 levels in the area.
The mask requirement is in effect as of Friday, per a park announcement.
When COVID-19 community levels reach the high status in the immediate area,
the park has implemented the requirement for masks in accordance with U.S. Interior Department regulations.
The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention received reports from the
Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the Denali Borough north of the park indicating that their status was high.
No matter if they have received any vaccines, everyone above the age of two must wear masks that cover their mouth and nose.
They must be worn in all communal and shared areas of buildings owned by or
under the supervision of the National Park Service, including visitor centres, lodges, gift shops, and restaurants.
Masks must also be worn when using the park's shuttles and buses.
