Fernando Alonso will replace Sebastian Vettel in 2023, according to Vettel's soon-to-be-former team, Aston Martin Racing F1.
Oscar Piastri will replace Vettel for the 2019 season, according to Alpine F1. The Australian driver,
on the other hand, did not share this viewpoint; he immediately condemned the occurrence on social media.
I know that Alpine F1 said in a press statement late this afternoon that I will be their driver in 2019.
This is untrue because Alpine and I have not reached a 2023 agreement. I won't be an Alpine driver the next year, Piastri made a Twitter announcement.
Alpine intended to keep Alonso for at least one more year of the deal, so Mark Webber, a former F1 driver, convinced Oscar Piastri and his management to look into other options.
This condemnation both validates and expands a variety of hypotheses. To begin with, Oscar Piastri won't be taking part in Alpine racing in 2019.
ESPN claims that he has also signed a pre-contract agreement with the British team. He still plans to race for McLaren the following year.
McLaren and Alpine square up for fourth place in this year's constructors' championship race.
The team has contracts with Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris so they can compete in the following season.
However, it is now even more clear that people are vying for spots in the orange MCL36 in light of Piastri's comment and
the fact that Ricciardo's relationship with McLaren hasn't exactly worked out.
In his contract with McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo has the option to terminate it early. If that happens, he may go back to Alpine,
where he raced in 2019 and 2020 while the team was still known as Renault.
After passing up a driver who many believe to be the next world champion and a two-time world champion, Alpine has suffered a huge loss.
Especially considering that the French team has invested a sizeable sum in Piastri's development, which includes a 5,000-kilometer schedule of F1 equipment testing.
