The Kosovo, the nation of her parents' birth, has recently designated British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa as an honorary ambassador.
According to Fox News, the vocalist of "Levitating" was really born in London, but both of her parents were originally from Kosovo.
They then moved to Pristina after Kosovo declared its independence in 2008.
The website claims that Lipa eventually moved back to London when she was 15 years old in order to advance her musical career.
Lipa shared a number of pictures of herself with President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu on her Instagram page while she was accepting the role.
"Last afternoon, our Madame President @vjosa.osmani bestowed upon me the distinction of
Honourary Ambassador of Kosovo," the three-time Grammy winner stated in her message.
I'll keep working and making efforts to see that we leave our mark and make a difference because it's an honour and
a joy to be able to represent my country around the world, she said.
The young of Kosovo should fight for the freedom to travel and to dream big. I appreciate it.
On Instagram, Lipa shared the letter she received from the president of the Republic of Kosovo,
who described her as "a role model to girls and women across the world as a clear and ethical advocate."
Fox News reports that Lipa got the award while performing at the Sunny Hill Festival in Pristina,
Kosovo, which she and her father Dukagjin Lipa established.
