Elon Musk tweets a photo of himself with Sergey Brin and calls the rumours that the Google co-founder and Elon Musk had an affair “total bs.”
A surprising Sunday Wall Street Journal article revealed that Elon Musk and Nicole Shanahan, the former spouse of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, had a brief romance in the fall of last year. Musk denied the Journal’s assertions that the affair led to the divorce of Brin and Shanahan and the dissolution of their close friendship. On Sunday, he called it a “hit piece,” and on Monday, he shared a picture of himself with Brin.
Brin and Shanahan were reportedly cohabitating at the time of the alleged affair in December, according to a person close to her. According to the Journal, Brin, who wed Shanahan in 2018, filed for divorce in January, citing “irreconcilable differences,” a few weeks after learning of the affair.
Musk criticised the Journal’s assertion in a tweet, calling it “total bs.”
“I’m friends with Sergey, and last night we went to a party,” Musk wrote in a tweet on Sunday. In the past three years, Nicole and I have only met twice, and on both occasions, a considerable crowd was present. Nothing stirring.
Musk shared a selfie on Monday with Brin in the backdrop.
Musk told the New York Post on Monday that he had discussed the piece with Sergey and Nicole. Sergey and Nicole vehemently denied contacting the Wall Street Journal or allowing anyone to speak on their behalf when I asked them about the piece. Along with that, I was with Sergey from Saturday night till yesterday afternoon, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely with our friends,” Musk added.
Brin and Musk, longtime friends, reportedly slept together on a bed at Brin’s home in Silicon Valley. Brin, who is worth $95 billion, has made a number of investments in Tesla since the establishment of the company that Musk controls in 2003. The other co-founder of Google, Larry Page, and Brin each contributed to a $40 million funding round in 2006. In his 2015 biography of Musk, Ashlee Vance claims that Musk sent financing requests to many friends when Tesla needed money in 2008. Brin contributed $500,000.
The Journal claims that Musk apologised to Brin at a party earlier this year; nevertheless, despite Brin accepting the apology, the two don’t communicate often.
In a following tweet, Musk referred to the article as a “Tesla hit piece.”
The reveal of the alleged affair has been challenging for the CEO and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, who also happens to be the richest man on planet. Following Musk’s announcement that the $44 billion proposed acquisition of the social media network would not proceed, Twitter filed a lawsuit against Musk earlier this month.
It was discovered that Musk and a senior colleague secretly gave birth to twins in November at roughly the same time. Musk has also disputed charges that his business, SpaceX, paid a flight attendant $250,000 to settle allegations that the billionaire had exposed himself to her while they were in the air.
