Hair loss prevention through Ayurveda.

Hair loss is something that almost everyone goes through at one point or another in their lives. To comprehend the causes of hair loss, it is necessary to first comprehend the structure of hair and its regular development cycle.

Structure of hair.

The root and the shaft are the two elements of our scalp hair. The hair’s root is found in the skin of the scalp (epidermis). A pouch-like structure called a follicle surrounds the hair root. The base of the hair root resembles a bulb. Capillaries and nerve fibres indent this bulb. The central cells of the bulb divide. The newly divided hair cells push the previously divided hair cells up. Slowly dying cells move higher, resulting in a stiff hair shaft.

The three layers that make up the hair shaft are the cuticle, medulla, and cortex.

The cuticle’s outer layers shield the inner layers. It’s transparent. A healthy cuticle seems shiny, but an ill cuticle appears lifeless.

The medulla, the innermost layer, is made up of large cells.

Between the cuticle and the medulla is a layer called the cortex. Pigment and keratin make up this substance. The cortex determines hair mass and strength.

The gloss of the hair comes from oil-secreting glands in the hair follicle.

Hair greying is caused by a decrease in oil and pigment release caused by stress and disease.

Hair is a tissue that consumes the same nutrients as bone tissue and is produced as a bi-product of bone tissue, according to Ayurveda.

Hair growth follows a normal cycle.

Around 10% of the hair on the scalp is in a resting phase at any given time. The resting hair comes out after 2 to 3 months, and new hair begins to grow in its place. The growth phase might span anywhere from 2.25 to 6 years. During this phase, each hair grows roughly 1 millimetre every month. At any given time, approximately 90% of the hair on the scalp is in the growth phase.

Causes And Treatment For Hair Loss.

As part of the regular hair growth cycle, a few strands of hair fall out. However, some people may experience hair loss that exceeds the regular period. Men, women, and children can all suffer from excessive hair loss.

Hair loss has a variety of causes.

1. Hormonal imbalance in men and women: Hair loss in men is caused by a high concentration of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in hair follicles. Hair loss is caused by hormonal imbalances in women during pregnancy and after delivery.

2. Excess sebum in the scalp clogs the pores and prevents nutrition from reaching the hair follicles.

3. Hair loss is caused by a lack of nourishment.

4. Hair fall is caused by stress, concern, lack of sleep, worry, and anxiety.

5. Long-term illnesses such as typhoid, viral infections, anaemia, surgery, and others produce general weakness, which leads to hair loss.

6. Gout medications, cancer chemotherapy, birth control pills, antidepressants, and other medications can cause hair loss.

7. Hair loss is caused by diseases such as lupus and diabetes.

8. Tightly tying hair pulls hair out of follicles, causing traction alopecia.

9. Hair loss can also caused by heredity.

10. Dandruff or a fungal infection of the scalp.

11. Dirt accumulation on the scalp clogs pores and weakens hair roots. This causes hair to fall out.
