Bill Nye is more than just "The Science Guy" now that he is married. The TV celebrity wed journalist and author Liza Mundy in May, according to a report in People magazine this week.
The pair exchanged vows at Washington, D.C.'s Haupt Garden at the Castle Building of the Smithsonian Institute.
Actor Robert Picardo from "Star Trek: Voyager" presided over the ceremony. Picardo joked on Twitter that The Officiant,
who appears to be somewhat familiar, reportedly said: "Commitment: The Final Frontier."
Pete Souza, President Barack Obama's designated White House photographer, captured images at the wedding.
"Yes it's real, I'm now officially a wedding photographer," Souza wrote in a comment after posting images from the occasion on Instagram.
Mundy herself has connections to the Obama team. In 2008, she published "Michelle: A Biography," which she had written about former First Lady Michelle Obama.
She was a staff writer for the Washington Post before joining New America, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that focuses on issues affecting women,
the workplace, and national security. At New America, she is currently a senior fellow.
"Girls Who Code," a book by Mundy about American women codebreakers during World War II, was a New York Times bestseller in 2017.
