Indian driver Jehan Daruvala earned his sixth podium of the year by placing second in the French round of the Formula 2 championship.

Jehan started the "feature race" on Sunday from position 10 on the grid, moved up to position 7, and ultimately finished second overall.

He has placed second five times so far this season. The 23-year-old, who drives for the Italian team Prema,

was denied the opportunity to win a potential fourth F2 championship due to a post-race penalty in the most recent round in Austria.

"After what happened in Austria and Silverstone, it is fantastic to be back on top of the podium.

Even though we raced slowly down the straights, we put up a lot of effort to finish second "commented Jehan.

"We would have finished significantly higher in the main race if we had followed through on our strategy to run a long first stint,

but we bet on the safety car and stayed out a bit longer than we should have. Apart from that, our weekend was enjoyable.

We still need to work on a few things, but I'm confident that by the following weekend in Hungary, we'll be much better "The 23-year-old added.

Jehan got off to a quick start in the "sprint race" on Saturday and claimed the lead going into the first bend.

He easily held onto the front of the group as the safety car emerged following a collision involving three cars.

The second-place driver, Liam Lawson, was briefly in front because to the 23-year-old Mumbai driver's flawless timing of the restart.

However, Lawson was able to close the deficit thanks to his superior straight-line speed.

Lawson passed Jehan utilising his car's faster straight-away speed, and Jehan swerved around the outside of it into turn one.

Jehan managed to avoid getting a puncture despite the collision and tearing of his front tyre.

A few laps later, Marcus Armstrong made an inside move at the same bend to try to overtake Jehan for second.

Jehan remained in place despite being pushed far across the chicane during their collision. Because Armstrong shoved Jehan off the course, he lost five seconds.

Following the completion of a second Formula One test with McLaren earlier this week, the Red Bull-sponsored driver will now go to Hungary.
