Quinta Brunson's all-plume dress that she wore to the ESPY Awards on Friday night caused some confusion.
In the rainbow Prabal Gurung minidress and vivid pink Stuart Weitzman shoes, Brunson,
the creator and comedian of the Emmy-nominated Hulu comedy "Abbott Elementary," looked spectacular.
The end result had a sophisticated but colourful and whimsical character.
Almost floating, Brunson appeared on the red carpet.
With a neat 1960s hair flip and makeup that complemented the plum undertones of her costume,
Brunson kept the attention on her feathers. Issa Rae posted on Instagram that her friends and
followers were equally enamoured with the fluffy, feathered dream. "Quinta! Amazing,"
she said before adding, "next level." Brunson is shown here as having a more happy demeanour than her
most recent appearance on the digital cover of Essence, where she wore majestic white satin and gorgeous gold outfits.
"Life can be dark and horrible, but what makes humans so tenacious is their capacity to find the
light in difficult circumstances," she said in her Essence interview.
The only explanation I can come up with for why we are still alive is that.
There is no doubt that it is the reason for Black people's existence. We possess a strong capacity for illumination.
That's extremely important, so I wanted to help make it available."
